Setting up a 2GS

Hello,

I am new to this forum. I am a devoted 2GS follower. It was my very first computer. I loved it. I still have my computer and I would love to be able to reconfigure it and get it working. I would really appreciate any information about setting the 2Gs up and information on inspecting and verifying it. I have not used in over 10 years and I am worried that it will not work. (that would be truly saddening).

Thank you to all who respond.

Re: Setting up a 2GS

As an Apple II, you should still find that even after all these years, if you set it up again it will boot up almost as you remember it.

There's probably a good chance, if you have a hard drive, that that may not function anymore and I'd be certain your battery RAM, which remembers things like which slot to boot from, the time and date, mouse speed, system colours, etc. won't work either.

But don't worry about breaking anything - there are various bits and pieces on eBay that can replace most items that are no longer working. Reactive Micro (http://www.reactivemicro.com/) can also help with parts and service.

If you're missing your manuals, there are online versions here:

Good luck and check back at the forum with how you go!
