I tried really hard to like this game when I bought it new, but I just didn't see what was so great about it. The graphics were cool, but the gameplay was frustrating and dull.
Was I missing something?

Re: The Last Ninja
I did find it kind of frustrating, but not dull. It's worth remembering this one started life on the Commodore 64, where a lot of game design was actually pretty savage. I mean I have nothing but great memories of playing tons of C64 games, but I never came close to completing any of the ones that were completeable. That includes Last Ninja.
I remember trying to buy Last Ninja GS for bloody ages at a computer shop around the corner from me. I'd ask every week, 'Do you have Last Ninja for the IIGS?' (after I saw it once there) and they'd say 'No...' I mean I was just a primary school kid. The onus should have been on them to say something like, 'We can order it if you want it', 'cos I didn't know about that stuff. But they didn't help me at all, just stupidly continued to tell me they didn't have it, week after week. Ugh, didn't realise how annoying this memory was 'til I just pulled it from the banks right now!
