Hi,
I just tried disk 1 on sweet16 and it starts to boot and just sits at a black screen. I thought it was the emulator so tried it on my ROM03 and get the same thing. Are there any compatibility issues with this game or maybe bad disk image?

Re: Alien Mind Disk 1
Alien Mind requires IWM emulation - do that with Sweet 16, hold down the option key as you drag and drop the disk image onto the emulator's icon. KEGS will do this automatically, as the 2 drives assigned for the slot and drive number (5, 1 and 5, 2) are pre-assigned.
I can pretty much bet that any game that uses a custom booter like Alien Mind (Tomahawk, FTA demos, Miami Beach productions, etc.) will require IWM.
Sweet 16 plays Alien Mind OK, although the music is not playing at the correct tempo.
Off the top of my head, I can't remember hearing any if there are any issues with ROM03 machines.

Hmmm that didn't make a difference. I will try with a ROM01 rom and see if that makes a difference.

Re: Alien Mind Disk 1
Just to be sure it isn't a ROM03 issue, when you correctly mount a disk image with full IWM emulation, the 'Sweet 16 Disks' window should list the disk as '13', whereas it normally lists it as '1'.
Apart from holding down the option key as you mount the disk image, you can also go to Sweet 16's preferences, go to 'Storage' and uncheck 'Mount 3.5" floppy disks...'. Whenever you then drag a disk image onto Sweet 16's icon (or the Disks window) it will be using IWM.
For anyone that doesn't know IWM fully emulates the Apple 3.5" drive with exact timing, the downside being that emulated programs will load more slowly.

It's worth pointing out the deprotected version from The F.U.C.K. (French United Cracking Klan) will NOT boot on a ROM 3 machine. The original store bought Alien Mind disk will however. From what I remember, it used a custom OS and managed to fit more than the usual 800K on each disk (900K? 1 MB?). It's similar to Tomahawk.
That particular crack had an image of Robocop at the title screen. I don't think there were any other deprotected copies of the game though.
Re: Alien Mind Disk 1
The copy I have does have the robocop crack screen. All works fine on ROM01 though, but means i have to get it out if i want to play as main maching is Rom03. Maybe I will see if i can get a copy of Ebay so i can play on my ROM03 machine...
